About Me

I’m Masashige Kihara, but you can call me Masi. I’m a Tokyo-based photographer drawn to people, everyday moments, architecture, light, and the little things that make a place feel like itself.

Mount Fuji with snow-capped peak and clouds around its base, viewed from a lakeside promenade with a metal railing and road in the foreground, under a partly cloudy sky.
A young boy with short dark hair, barefoot, wearing a beige sweatshirt and blue shorts with colorful dinosaurs, is holding and looking down at an orange basketball on an outdoor asphalt surface, with a blurred background of a fence and building.

How I photograph

I like photographs that feel observed rather than forced. I pay attention to light, movement, surroundings, and the small gestures that make a moment feel real.
During portrait sessions, I’ll give direction when it helps, but I don’t want every frame to feel posed. The goal is to make photographs that still feel like you — while keeping a sense of the place we were in.
